An important agricultural project is being carried out on the Loma Pajarera estate with the planting of pistachio trees on some 40 hectares of land. This new initiative includes the planting of around 8,000 trees in a 7 x 7 metre frame, which will allow for an adequate development and use of the space.
The pistachio trees planted are already grafted, high quality specimens. The varieties selected are Kerman for the females and Peter and Guerrero for the males, while the rootstock used is the renowned UCB1. This rootstock is highly valued for its adaptability and resistance, which guarantees a solid base for the crop.
The project is being developed under dry conditions, taking advantage of the climatic and soil characteristics of the area. The plants are currently in vegetative rest, a stage in which they are not affected by the cold. It is hoped that the rains and favourable temperatures of winter and spring will activate their sprouting and growth. This initial development is crucial for the plants to be able to face the summer with a fully functional root system, able to withstand the high temperatures.
With this plantation, Loma Pajarera reaffirms its commitment to sustainable agriculture and the production of high quality pistachios, contributing to the development of the national pistachio sector.
